In a video posted on Youtube, the 76-year-old actor recalled the terrible experience that happened to him a few years ago, during his third open-heart surgery
It was supposed to be a small non-invasive surgery, but due to a doctor’s mistake the procedure got complicated and Arnold Schwarzenegger almost died under the knife. The 76-year-old actor himself recounted the episode in un video posted on YouTube, where he retraced the ordeal he had to go through shortly before the filming of «Terminator 6», when he underwent his third open heart operation.
“I remember waking up and suddenly having the doctors in front of me saying ‘we’re so sorry, but it was different than what they had planned, because it was supposed to be a simple non-invasive procedure, but we made a mistake. and we pierced the wall of the heart”. At that point the doctors had to act quickly in order not to lose Schwarzy on the operating table. “They told me that they had to open me very quickly to save my life, because I had internal bleeding – continues the former governor of California -. The moral of the story is that you can’t turn back time. I had found myself in the middle of a disaster and I had to get out of it somehow. So I said to myself: “ok, now I have to change gears and what I need is to get out of this hospital”. And so I did.”
Rehabilitation was very slow, as logical as it is after an operation of that kind. «I called my friends and told them “guys, you have to give me the charge!” – says Schwarzenegger in the clip, showing the images of his long recovery process -. At first I was taking 10 steps a day, then I started taking walks around the hospital. I looked like an idiot hanging around the corridors, but the truth is that I was doing everything because the doctors had recommended that I exercise my lungs, because if I got pneumonia I could die. Thanks to his perseverance and positive spirit, the Hollywood star was eventually released from the hospital and was able to continue his rehabilitation at home, managing to get back in shape in time to start filming «Terminator: Dark Fate» of the 2019.
