The authorities in the department of La Guajira reported that in events that are the subject of investigation, Freddy Enrique Rhenals, a lawyer by profession and who worked as a Public Defender for the Ombudsman’s Office, lost his life, who was wounded with a firearm in front of his home located in the Rojas Pinilla neighborhood of Maicao.
After the event, Rhenals Coronado was transferred to a care center in this town, where he later died due to the seriousness of the injuries. For this reason, the National Police deployed a special component to determine the motives for the crime.
The lawyer was a member of a family that had arrived in the municipality of Maicao many years ago and was currently 47 years old, of which, the last four years, he had worked in the specialty of criminal law in the agency’s office in the La Guajira section.

For his part, the mayor of Maicao Mohamad Dasuki repudiated the incident and asked the authorities to speed up the investigations, although he also indicated that they have important data that could resolve the case at any time and thus give news to his family.
Finally, it was said that a Security Council will be convened in the next few hours, in order to establish a special plan with which to capture those responsible for the act, who today mourn a family in the department of La Guajira.
