Hunter Biden, 53, is charged with tax evasion and acquiring a gun despite openly admitting his drug problem.

The son of the Democratic president reached a first agreement in June to plead guilty with prosecutor Weiss, in Delaware (east), the state of origin of the Biden family, which would have allowed him to avoid prison time and a shameful trial.

However, in July a judge questioned the validity of the agreement and it was annulled. He later pleaded not guilty to the tax evasion charge.

The special counsel said in August that he had closed the Delaware tax evasion investigation, but warned that it would be reopened in other states.

Hunter Biden, lawyer and lobbyist, is accused of failing to file his tax returns in 2017 and 2018 for total income of 1.5 million dollars.

His father’s predecessor, Donald Trump, and other Republicans have made him one of their favorite targets, to the point of considering him Joe Biden’s Achilles heel.
