The downfall of the criminal syndicate began on May 24, 2021, when the police conducted a targeted raid, leading to the apprehension of seven individuals. Subsequently, six more individuals were detained, and the authorities identified two additional suspects. It was revealed that the suspected masterminds behind the operation hailed from Kristianstad.
Crucial evidence in the case was obtained through the decryption of communications on encrypted platforms Anom and Sky ECC. This breakthrough allowed law enforcement and prosecutors to establish direct links between the criminal activities and the individuals involved.
The apprehended individuals were eventually charged, resulting in a trial held at Kristianstad District Court. Thirteen individuals were found guilty of committing particularly serious drug offenses or serious drug crimes, which involved the manufacturing, sale, purchase, and transportation of large quantities of narcotics. The court handed down prison sentences ranging from nine and a half years to four years.
Among the convicted individuals, two were additionally found guilty of weapons offenses, one of doping offenses, and one of money laundering offenses, contribution offenses, and fraud.
Interestingly, amongst the defendants, two were women, while the rest were men. While thirteen of the accused were charged with particularly serious drug offenses, the remaining two faced charges related to aiding and abetting criminals, specifically by helping to eliminate traces of drug production in the properties. These two individuals received suspended sentences and fines.
