The Taugler Song Days celebrate Franz Schubert and his song cycle.

The miller’s passion isn’t just hiking. Anyone who knows Schubert’s circle of songs “The Beautiful Miller’s Girl” knows this. The young hero initially has hopes for the affection of his beloved: “Towards the Miller’s Girl! That’s the meaning.” Of course, part of the art of Schubert performance is to make the path from euphoria to despair audible. At the second Taugler Song Days this year, song specialist Robert Holl and soprano Adina Nitescu will hold master classes in singing and interpretation.

The concept of the Liedertage is also about the combination of classical and folk music. The Salzburger Volksliedwerk is also involved with a “Sing with” workshop.

And the “Schöne Müllerin”, who is celebrating her 200th birthday this year, is at the center of the concert program. A mill should not be missing: the restored Branterer Mill will be blessed as part of the Song Days. Johannes Bamberger sings the Schubert cycle (piano: Felix Hornbacher). Part of the “Schubertiade” also includes a new look at the jubilarian: The Erlkings interpret the “Schöne Müllerin” in pop versions.
Festival: Taugler Liedertage, September 10th to 17th, 2023, detailed program: www.taugler-liedertage.org
