The French Alps’ bid for the 2023 Winter Olympics and Paralympics is starting to take shape. This Thursday, several representatives of the French Olympic and Paralympic committees traveled to Lausanne to meet Thomas Bach, President of the IOC. David Lappartient, president of the CNOSF, Marie-Amélie Le Fur, president of the CPSF, Renaud Muselier, president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, Laurent Wauquiez, president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, Guy Drut and Martin Fourcade were notably present.

“In the continuity of the first exchanges with the IOC and the entry into the “permanent dialogue” with it last July, this meeting of the French delegation made it possible to share with the IOC teams the ambition of the candidature French,” wrote the CNOSF in a press release.

While specifying that the joint work “will continue in the coming weeks”, the CNOSF specified that increased attention was paid to the French Alps. “The bid team had the opportunity to specify that the French vision of the organization of the Games must be at the service of the host territories, which benefit from an exceptional environment to host this global event. »

France is not the only candidate for these 2030 Winter Games. Sapporo (Japan), Salt Lake City (USA), Stockholm (Sweden) and Switzerland have also announced that they want to host the event. The host country will be determined during the 141st IOC session in Paris in 2024.
