DIG/ Not everyone is in favor of General Brice-Clotaire Oligui Nguéma taking power. In particular part of the Bongo Ondimba siblings.
According to media information Africa Intelligence in his publication of September 4, 2023, the former head of the General Directorate of Special Services (DGSS), Frédéric Bongo, half-brother of Ali Bongo, remains firmly hostile to the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI) .
“While staying in Guadeloupe with French judoka Teddy Riner, Frédéric Bongo rushed to Paris the day after the coup. He tried to send the message to the French authorities of the risks of destabilization and predicted a putsch within a putsch.
He activated his network among the generals, with whom he remained in contact.
His relationship with General Oligui Nguema has remained particularly strained since the latter replaced him in 2019 at the head of the DGSS, the intelligence services of the powerful Republican Guard.
