Starting from 10:08 a.m. (0208 GMT), customers can now place orders for the Mate 60 Pro+, with delivery expected by October 9.
The company has revealed specifications that highlight the phone’s impressive features, such as its capability to connect to two satellites simultaneously and its larger internal storage capacity compared to the Mate 60 Pro. However, the price of the device has not been disclosed.
Reports from Chinese social media users indicate that the Mate 60 Pro has achieved download speeds surpassing those of other top-line 5G smartphones. This is seen as a significant accomplishment for Huawei, considering the limited access it has had to chipmaking tools required for producing advanced models since 2019 due to U.S. restrictions. Initially, the company could only release limited batches of 5G models using stockpiled chips.
In a recent tear-down analysis, TechInsights discovered that the Mate 60 Pro+ is powered by the new Kirin 9000s chip, manufactured in China by Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC) (0981.HK). This development marks a breakthrough for Huawei, as it previously heavily relied on stockpiled chips, and now has access to the latest technology in chipmaking.
In addition to the Mate 60 Pro+, Huawei also revealed the launch of the Huawei Mate X5, a new version within its foldable phone series. The company continues to push boundaries and innovate within the smartphone market.
