The increase in traffic registered in the first half of 2023 is due, according to Adif, to factors such as the entry of the two private operators due to the market liberalization process, the recovery of frequencies and the launch of new sections of high-speed lines, to overcome 4,000 kilometers now.

The Adif AV network has experienced a growth of 40.1 percent, while suburban and interurban traffic in these six months is 4.2 percent higher than the first half of 2022.

Regarding the results by axes, in the high-speed lines the demand for the Madrid-Levante high-speed line stands out, which increases by 81.6 percent in this first half of 2023 compared to the same dates of the last year. This is followed by Madrid-Barcelona Madrid-Andaluca and Madrid-Valladolid Len-Zamora-Galicia, with an increase of 44.3, 21.9 and 16.4 percent, respectively.
