Sepp Kuss is more leader than ever in the Vuelta a España, the Jumbo Visma rider established himself in the lead and distanced his bitterest rivals, he calmly awaits the coming stages and is cautious in this regard.

Upon crossing the finish line, the American runner noted: “It was a dream scenario,” and continued: “It was a super difficult stage, always with ups and downs. We had to stay focused all day. The team has done great. We were still with many runners when there were only twenty boys left. “Robert Gesink in particular did very well today and Wilco Kelderman seemed to lead the Tourmalet relentlessly,” he said of his teammates.

With 90 kilometers to go, Evenepoel was already having trouble keeping up: “When we heard that, we immediately picked up the pace. At first we just wanted to go at our own pace. Bahrain-Victorious took over in the relegation, then there were many differences and it was a complete stage,” said the Durango-born, who now maintains the red shirt with greater clarity.

In the tactical part, Jumbo was perfect: “We knew that with the three of us in that group, the rest were forced to go with Roglic and me. During the entire stage, Vingegaard felt super good and, as it is his daughter’s birthday, he was very motivated,” said Kuss.

Now, he surely sees the coming days with a different perception: “Today has been very difficult, tomorrow will be another tough mountain stage. All the efforts are starting to count and there will still be many stages. We are very happy with how we took advantage of our superiority today. Our position is very good now, we will see how it goes in the rest of the stages”, Sepp concluded.
