Government’s Attempt to Remove Michal Rosenbaum, Director of Government Companies Authority

by time news

Government Companies Authority Director Michal Rosenbaum has been facing attempts to have her removed from her position. Despite receiving offers to leave her post in exchange for an attractive position in the public service, Rosenbaum has refused these proposals. These offers were made by a senior official in the Prime Minister’s office and a senior member of the Civil Service Commission.

Rosenbaum firmly declined the offers, stating, “I came to the position for four years, and I have no intention of leaving for any position no matter how attractive it may be, even one day before.” Her refusal highlights her commitment to her role and the challenges she faces within it.

Rosenbaum’s conflict with Minister for Regional Cooperation and Minister in the Ministry of Justice, Dodi Amsalem, has been ongoing. One of the key factors in this dispute is her refusal to authorize Amsalem’s private lawyer and friend to be appointed as a director of a public company, despite their unsuitability for the position.

Last month, Amsalem met with the Commissioner of the Civil Service, Prof. Daniel Hershkowitz, to request the termination of Rosenbaum’s term. Amsalem argued that she is not suitable for the position and that their working relationship is problematic. In response, Rosenbaum’s spokesperson attributed the minister’s attempts to impeach her to the Companies Authority’s refusal to agree to illegitimate demands, particularly regarding appointments and wages.

The ongoing confrontation between Rosenbaum and Amsalem highlights the challenges faced by government officials and the resistance they may encounter when it comes to making decisions based on integrity and merit. Despite these attempts to remove her from her position, Rosenbaum remains dedicated to her role and committed to upholding the authority’s principles.
