Round1 to Replace Nordstrom at San Francisco’s Stonestown Galleria

San Francisco’s Stonestown Galleria is set to welcome a new entertainment hotspot as the Japanese-based bowling alley and arcade Round1 prepares to move into Nordstrom’s old spot. This will mark Round1’s first venture into San Francisco, adding to its already established locations in Hayward, Concord, and San Jose. With nearly 100 other branches across the United States, Round1 is known for its massive entertainment spaces and arcade games imported directly from Japan.

According to reports from the San Francisco Business Times, Round One Corp. has submitted an application to the city’s planning department, aiming to convert the 50,000 square feet of the former Nordstrom store into an extensive range of entertainment offerings. The proposed space will include bowling alleys, a redemption arcade, billiards area, party rooms, a snack bar, a bar, and various support areas. The project is estimated to cost around $4.5 million.

The decision to bring Round1 to Stonestown Galleria comes at an opportune time, given the mall’s location near San Francisco State University and several high schools. The mall has long been a popular gathering place for young people. However, recent incidents of large-scale fights among youths in March have prompted city officials to launch anti-violence initiatives in response. It remains uncertain whether the mall will be adjusting its security practices following Round1’s opening. SFGATE’s request for comment from Stonestown went unanswered by the time of publication.

As Round1 prepares to make its mark on San Francisco, locals and visitors alike can look forward to a new and exciting entertainment experience that combines the best of Japanese arcade gaming and bowling. With the addition of Round1’s unique entertainment offerings, Stonestown Galleria is poised to become an even more vibrant destination for young people seeking fun and social gatherings in the city.
