Hours after confirming the death of María Teresa Campos, comedian Edmundo ‘Bigote’ Arrocet went live on ‘Espejo Público’ to say goodbye to his former partner. They were together for almost six years but when their love ended, the comedian harshly criticized María Teresa and her daughters on different television programs. The relationship between the two was already non-existent and on the day of his ex-partner’s death, ‘Bigote”s statements have been controversial.
The 73-year-old Chilean comedian of Argentine origin has accused third parties of having broken off his relationship with the communicator: “There were people who didn’t want us to be together.” He has not mentioned them directly but he was largely referring to María Teresa’s daughters – Terelu and Carmen Borrego – whom he accuses of “not behaving well” with her mother in recent years.
When Susanna Griso asked him about those supposed WhatsApp messages that he sent to María Teresa to break the relationship, Edmundo once again denied the major: “That’s a lie.” And, furthermore, he denied that he had to apologize to María Teresa for her behavior: «No, no no. “She should have asked for forgiveness from me and not I from her.”
Given these words, serious accusations against the comedian were heard on the set as a result of the indignation that his words represented. Susanna Griso, then, was forced to cut the call with ‘Mustache’.
María Teresa Campos and Edmundo ‘Bigote’ Arrocet had a long relationship of almost five years. He had been widowed and she was single again when they met on television. La Campos interviewed the comedian in 2014 and love arose there until they both ended the relationship in 2019. It was from that moment on that the storm broke out with serious accusations between them.
At the beginning of 2020, María Teresa Campos dropped a ‘bombshell’ in the ¡Hola! magazine: «Almost six years of relationship do not end on WhatsApp. I don’t think it’s good how he did it (…) I cried a lot because he was my company. My friend, my lover, my everything.
In the statements made to the magazine, the bitterness over the lost love was evident, but also resolution when it came to facing the future, in which there was no room for a second round: «I close the door. Just because Edmundo is over doesn’t mean the world is over. (…) I also do not intend to say anything bad about the person I have been with for almost six years. I’m going to tell the reality. To this day, I can’t believe he didn’t love me.”
“On WhatsApp he told me goodbye, that I should not look for him or call him because it would be worse,” the presenter then revealed, who alone with these statements made it clear that the separation was not easy for her. In reality, it was the culmination of a breakup that had already been confirmed by herself in a statement that her daughter Terelu read, crying, on the program ‘Viva la Vida’: “Throughout these years, in my romantic relationship with Edmundo Arrocet, there has been speculation on numerous occasions about crises and ruptures that were unfounded. For this reason, now I want to be the one who tells you that relationships last more or less in time, sometimes, a lifetime, or almost 6 years, as has been the case with Edmundo.
The communicator was referring to the rumors of infidelity that had surrounded the couple for years and to which Bigote Arrocet responded like this on television: “I have heard that they have left my suitcase at the door of my house, that I am a pimp, that I am with other women, that I am ruined, that I am dying…. It’s a spectacular thing. “It makes us laugh,” she said a while ago in ‘Espejo Público’.
But the comedian always boasted of being unfaithful, although he never named names. A year later, on the television program ‘Secret Story’, Arrocet went so far as to say that “all men do it, but you have to know how to do it well. (…) It is a topic according to religion and country. In Arab countries you can marry three, four or five women and nothing happens. The western side is the most false of all because one gets married and has his girlfriend and has his mistress in most cases. Infidelity is relative, we all carry it in men.
The images did not please the ‘Secret Story’ audience and quickly went viral on social networks. Her participation was short-lived after those statements.
