A large earthquake, specifically 6.8 on the Richter scale, occurred in Morocco last Friday. The epicenter was located in the south of the country, in Iguil, 63 kilometers southwest of Marrakech and at a depth of 18 kilometers. The provinces and cities of Al Haouz, Marrakech, Taroudant, Chichaua and Ouarzazate have been the most affected, with many buildings reported to have been destroyed and thousands of people killed and injured.
Faced with this catastrophe, numerous NGOs have activated fundraising campaigns to alleviate material damage and support rescue operations and care for the injured.
