President of France Emmanuel Macron 9/11 was present in Bangladesh, on a visit in an effort to “strengthen” the Indo-Pacific strategy.

Speaking at a joint press conference with host country Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, President Macron praised the “tremendous success” of the South Asian country – a rapidly growing economy and the 8th most populous country in the world with more than 170 million people.

During the talks, the leaders of the two countries also discussed a “commitment” from Bangladesh’s Biman Airlines to buy 10 A350s from European aircraft manufacturer Airbus, under a potential contract worth up to 3.2 billion. USD.

President Macron assessed that Biman Airlines has always purchased aircraft from US manufacturer Boeing in the past, so the plan to buy aircraft from Airbus is “an important milestone.”

For her part, Prime Minister Hasina affirmed: “Both countries hope this new strategic move between Bangladesh and France will play an effective role in the goal of establishing regional and global peace and stability.”

The two leaders witnessed the signing of two agreements to strengthen cooperation in many fields, including infrastructure and satellite development.

This is the first visit of a French President to Bangladesh in 33 years. The visit is said to be part of France’s efforts to strengthen its strategy in the Indo-Pacific region.

In July, President Macron went on a Pacific tour and made a stop in Sri Lanka, where the French leader announced “Indo-Pacific strategy” aims to re-engage Paris with the region.

Also in July, he welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Paris. The Élysée Palace announced that in the past 6 months, President Macron “has done more work related to the South Asia region than in a decade”./.
