Meshkov-Brest began the battle with their eternal rival on the site of the Victoria sports complex quickly and dynamically. By the middle of the first half, the Brest team was leading by 3 goals, and the goals were flying into the net at the speed of a ball per minute. But then something went completely wrong and by half-time the scoreboard showed a depressing 15:19 in favor of the guests.
In the 2nd half the gap in the score reached 6 points. It seemed like this was the end! But it turned out – it seemed. The hosts took control of themselves and the ball and did something incredible – already 6 minutes before the final whistle, they caught up with the army team to the great delight of the public. After this, Eduard Koksharov’s boys could no longer be stopped, especially since after such a comeback the fans would not have forgiven their favorites for defeat. Moreover, our goal guard Denis Zabolotin caught the “wave” and reflected throw after throw, including 7-meter penalties. We also note the best scorers of the Meshkovites, who between them scored almost half of the goals for the team – Alexander Shkurinsky – 8, and Neven Stepanovich – 7.
We congratulate our handball masters on another trophy and look forward to a new bright victory in the SEHA-league on September 14 at 19.30 in Victoria in a fundamental confrontation with St. Petersburg Zenit.
