This time, it’s between Marco Verratti and Al-Arabi. Everything was already set between the 30-year-old Italian international, eleven years spent with the capital club, and the Qatari club. But Verratti had given himself some more time to think. But he had to face the facts. PSG had left him no hope of being reinstated and the only way out was in Doha, where the summer transfer window does not close until September 18.

Verratti is expected around midnight in the Qatari capital, where formalities relating to the signing of the contract can begin, from Tuesday morning. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, he must undergo his medical examination in the afternoon before signing his contract, the duration of which, undoubtedly quite short, remains a mystery.

PSG and Al-Arabi have agreed on compensation of nearly €45 million plus bonuses. The Qatari club have reportedly accepted the Italian international’s requests.

The Italian was pushed towards leaving by the sports management and Luis Enrique who left him out of the groups since the start of the season. As revealed by our newspaper on August 29, the Spanish coach was very clear in telling him, eye to eye: “With me, you will never play”.

Verratti had first received a concrete offer from Al-Hilal, in Saudi Arabia, with a salary of between 18 and 20 million euros per year, but procrastinated. With no leading European club showing up, he ended up giving in to the Qatari sirens.

In Qatar, Verratti will find Abdou Diallo, the former PSG defender, who joined Al-Arabi this summer. Marco Verratti, 30, arrived in Paris in 2012, he played 416 matches and was aiming for Jean-Marc Pilorget’s record (435).
