A week after launching negotiations on supplementary pensions, the social partners meet again this Tuesday afternoon at Medef headquarters to open discussions on unemployment insurance. The difference, however, is significant: if employers and unions have control over the first subject, it is not the same for the second.
The framing letter sent to them by the government on August 1 in fact sets out the negotiations which will begin and must be completed by November 15 within a very constrained framework. This first meeting will therefore first serve to confirm the desire, despite this, of all stakeholders to open the file. “We cannot play the empty chair scenario,” explains an employer negotiator. “We must go to the end and if the government does not accept our result, it will bear the responsibility for having killed paritarianism,” he adds.
