After retirement, needs are generally the same and sometimes greater while income is significantly reduced. It is only at this stage that retirement becomes a concern. And if careful attention is not paid, the situation could go from bad to worse. To contribute to the resolution of this social problem, the communications agency ”CHEZ-VOUS”, publisher of the Beninese economic daily L’Economiste du Bénin, organized this public conference in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Benin. . Through this conference, the agency intends to enable workers and retirees to understand the importance of life after retirement. Several experts in this case, Daniel Gouroubera, representative of the Director General of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS); Franck Togbe, Sales Director of Atlantique Assurances Vie: Jibril Bouraïma, Managing Director of Saphir Asset Management and many others as well as structures dealing with issues related to retirement in Benin, were present. The need to prepare for retirement for social well-being by combating the social damage caused by unpreparedness for retirement was underlined. To do this, the systems, mechanisms and means to benefit from social, economic and health services are exposed to participants. In his speech, the representative of the Director General of the Economist, Rigel Batcho indicated that retirement for a worker is the cessation of the income-generating professional activities from which he was accustomed to making a living. This stage of life requires good preparation, planning and good management for a peaceful retirement. On the other hand, it is unfortunately experienced and leads to tragedy when it is not well prepared, planned and managed.

“Retirees are often idle and faced with difficulties relating to financial concerns, health concerns, lack of health care, housing, travel, food and decent clothing,” she noted. And faced with these problems, many easily indulge in alcohol, drug addiction and begging, thus causing their death. Participants were given the opportunity to raise their concerns so that full explanations could be provided. Note that the first edition of the seniors fair is scheduled for September 2 to 4, 2023 at the Cotonou convention center.
