The number of hotels for sale in Idealistic has grown by 26.9% at the end of August compared to the same month in 2022, reaching 1,346 ads.
For Idealista, although the tourism sector is recovering strongly this year and is close to breaking the pre-pandemic record of visitors and income, economic uncertainty and high inflation are some of the factors that “seem to be hindering activity and “that are driving the entry of hotels into the market.”
In this sense, at the end of August and in the middle of the summer campaign, all Spanish provinces had units for sale, except the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla. The largest stock of available hotels is found in coastal areas, the main tourist centers of Spain.
The regions that concentrate the largest stock of hotels in Idealista are all coastal, led by the Balearic Islands, Malaga and Girona, with more than 100 hotels on the market each.
They are followed by Alicante (91 properties), Barcelona (87), Granada (74), Las Palmas (55) and Valencia (51). On the other hand, provinces such as Segovia, Palencia, Teruel, Guadalajara, Cuenca, Albacete, Ourense, Navarra, La Rioja, Lleida, Zamora and Soria have less than a dozen properties for sale.
The provinces that currently have the fewest hotel establishment ads available on idealista are La Rioja, Ourense and Vizcaya, with five units for sale in each case.
Also notable are the strong increases in supply in Tarragona, Ciudad Real, Lleida, Albacete, Guipúzcoa, Huesca, Soria and Zaragoza, which have experienced increases of at least 75% in the number of units available in 12 months.
Almost thirty provinces have registered an increase greater than the national average, among which are Murcia (55.6%), Alicante (49.2%), Valencia (41.7%), Barcelona (40.3%). or Santa Cruz de Tenerife (31.6%), while nine others have lost stock in the last year, such as Córdoba (-5.3%), Toledo (-9.1%), Cáceres (-10%), Madrid (-17.3) and Almería (-19%).
However, the three biggest decreases in the volume of establishments with a hotel license for sale in the last year have been in Teruel, Seville and Cuenca, with drops of more than 30%.
