Miguel Poveda and Antonio José were the first intergenerational duet to win the first edition of ‘Incredible Duos’. A year after TVE’s risky bet, the new season arrives with a roster of young and veteran artists who promise to offer a great show to the public channel’s viewers, with memorable performances that will remain forever in the corporation’s vast archive. .

Carlos Baute, Coti, David de María, David Summers, Diana Navarro, María del Monte, Paloma San Basilio and Rafa Sánchez are the eight established singers who will be in charge of selecting, in the blind pairing phase, two young artists. After acting with both, they will have to decide which one to continue with.

For the second edition, TVE relies on two well-known presenters from the world of music on radio and television to host one of the great and ambitious bets of the new season: Xavi Martínez and Julia Varela. «An artist may be reluctant to do television, but when he enters ‘Incredible Duos’ you feel like family and at home. That makes them feel free and comfortable. It is a program with a lot of truth,” confesses the announcer.

For the Eurovision commentator, in this format “you will get to know the people.” She will also be aware of everything that is going on backstage. “It has been an amazing experience. “It is a luxury to hear a live band and these musicians,” she highlights.

There will be 16 new artists who will compete to be chosen with the veterans: Ainoa Buitrago, Alfred García, Elena Farga, Famous, Flavio, Gonzalo Hermida, José Otero, Julia Medina, Lucía Gil, María Parrado, Maximiliano Calvo, Paula Mattheus, Roi Méndez, Samantha Gilabert, Tatiana Delalvz and Teo Bok. The premiere is scheduled for the coming weeks in prime time on La 1.

“Real” television

For her part, Paloma San Basilio highlights the risk and spontaneity of the TVE format, something that, according to her, is not usual. “It’s like recovering a time in which real, genuine, authentic television was made and in which everything was in favor of the work,” she celebrates.

In this context, David Summers explains that it is the first time he has participated in a contest and highlights that the network is betting on a 100% musical program “at this time, when live music is so reviled.” «You have to make a call so that everyone can see it. It is necessary that a program like this be maintained,” claims Diana Navarro in similar terms.

Carlos Baute also confesses that he got hooked on the program with the first edition despite consuming little television. «I liked competing, but I couldn’t say no to singing live and enjoying other musical genres. It’s wonderful to see Paloma San Basilio sing reggaeton. “I ask to go on a tour with all my teammates,” exclaims the Venezuelan.

«Ganga and TVE do what record companies do not do, which is to bet on artists in the medium long term. “We all have the passion of being born for music,” defends the Argentine Coti. Thus, Rafa Sánchez reveals that she has performed songs that he never thought she would sing. «The most beautiful thing as a musician is that I let my shamelessness go free: to use music freely, to learn from other artists in freedom. It’s magical,” adds Gonzalo Hermida.

Produced by RTVE in collaboration with Ganga Producciones, ‘Incredible Duos’ maintains the essence of its first edition: a musical and entertainment contest that pairs artists from different generations to compete against each other performing great music hits. It closed its first season with an average audience of 1,027,000 followers and a 10.2% screen share. The final was watched by 1,116,000 people and 11%, with almost 3.4 million followers at one point.
