In viral fan footage, Megan Thee Stallion can be seen engaging in what appears to be a heated exchange with Justin Timberlake while she was getting ready backstage. Timberlake, who had just performed with his bandmates from NSYNC earlier in the show, leaned in to say something to Megan, who responded by pointing her finger emphatically and looking visibly upset.
The band’s member Joey Fatone also seemed to say something in the midst of the exchange. However, according to a backstage source who witnessed the interaction, there was “zero fight” between Megan and Timberlake.
The source revealed that Timberlake greeted Megan by saying, “It’s so nice to meet you,” to which she replied, “No, no this don’t count, this don’t count. We gotta meet proper.” The source described the encounter as “very cute.”
While no official comment has been made by either party, NSYNC has been dropping hints about a potential reunion for weeks. Taylor Swift, who was the VMAs’ biggest winner of the night, further fueled the rumors when she accepted the first award of the evening from the group for best pop video. Swift excitedly asked NSYNC, “Are you guys gonna do something? I need to know what it is!”
Speculation is now mounting that NSYNC may have recorded a new song written by Timberlake for the upcoming animated movie “Trolls Band Together.” The film, which features a boy band reunion storyline for Timberlake’s character, Branch, is the third installment in DreamWorks’ popular franchise. It is expected that the other four members of NSYNC – JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick – will also be involved in the film.
