CriptoFácil – MetaMask, one of the most popular wallets on , announced support for several blockchain networks, including , , Tezos and Starknet.

This new feature was presented in the beta version of Snaps, a system that expands the functionalities of existing cryptocurrency wallets.

One of the features of Snaps is the ability to add blockchain networks that are not compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). This allows users to view and manage their cryptocurrencies and tokens on popular networks used by decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols.

Solana, for example, one of the supported networks, already has a total locked value (TVL) of US$492 million, demonstrating the growing interest in this ecosystem.

The Snaps platform offers a variety of developments specific to these networks, including wallets, transaction signing software, and notification systems.

Developers are also planning to release additional APIs soon, enabling advanced features such as account abstraction, which offers additional layers of security and customization in transactions.

Additionally, users will be able to enhance their experience with the option to add new widgets, making MetaMask even more versatile and adaptable to individual needs.

New to MetaMask

Developer Dan Finley emphasized that Snaps not only expands MetaMask’s capabilities as a wallet, but also promotes closer collaboration with the community and other players in the ecosystem.

New transaction security providers and notification systems are among the features that could be added, promising significant improvements in scalability and security.

Finley believes Snaps is an invitation to the community to offer their own solutions to challenges like security in blockchain transactions. He highlights that MetaMask rigorously audits Snaps before making them available, ensuring the security and functionality of these additions.

“Snaps represents an important step toward a more open and interconnected ecosystem,” said Finley.

The developer further expressed his hope that secure extensibility will be the norm in long-term software development, opening up unlimited possibilities for innovation and collaboration in the cryptocurrency industry.
