TOKYO (Reuters) – Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Wednesday his new cabinet will take measures so that wage growth consistently exceeds the inflation rate “by several percentage points.”
“We will ensure that Japan completely emerges from deflation,” Kishida said at a news conference following the announcement of his cabinet reshuffle.
Kishida also said the government and its ruling coalition intend to draw up a “bold” economic package next month to cushion the impact on families caused by the rising cost of living.
He declined to provide details on how to finance the expenditure, saying only that the government will consider drawing up an extra budget “at the appropriate time.”
