Controversy Erupts as College Principal Asks Students to Speak Against Sanathana

Tiruvarur: A major controversy has ensued after the in-charge principal of Thiruvika College in Tiruvarur requested students to participate in an anti-Sanathana seminar organized by the DMK. The circular, sent ahead of the seminar to be held on September 15, Anna’s birthday, has faced strong opposition from students and political groups.

The controversy surrounding Sanathana has spread across the country following Minister Udayanidhi’s recent statement against the organization. The circular sent by Principal Rajaraman has sparked outrage as it seemingly imposed a viewpoint on the students, prompting them to express anti-Sanathana sentiments.

The circular, dated September 12th, explicitly asked all classes to attend the seminar held at Kalyan Kottam on Anna’s birthday. It stated, “They are requested to participate in the seminar to be held at Kalyan Kottam on September 15, Anna’s birthday, to express their deep views on anti-Sanathana.”

Members of the Tiruvarur district BJP have condemned the principal’s actions and demanded his resignation. In response, a protest demonstration is scheduled to take place in front of Tiruvik Government Arts College at 3 pm on September 15. The demonstration will be led by district president Bhaskar and attended by BJP state general secretary Karupu Muruganandam.

In an attempt to clarify the situation, Principal Rajaraman stated that the circular was misinterpreted. He mentioned that they have issued another circular to emphasize that the students’ opinions should arise from their own choice.

The incident has thrown the college into turmoil, with students, faculty, and political groups engaging in heated debates and discussions. The clash of opposing views regarding Sanathana’s ideologies has become the focal point of this controversy, with the college caught in the middle.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the college and authorities will address the deepening divide and find a resolution that respects the freedom of expression while ensuring an inclusive and unbiased environment on campus.
