After an extraordinary Governing Council held tonight, 12/09/2023, on the occasion of the decision of the Committee on Economic Policy and Innovation to lift the ban on imports from Ukraine, the National Association of Grain Producers (NOT) decided to participate in a nationwide agricultural protest to save Bulgarian agriculture. The Association declares its absolute and unwavering readiness to protect the “Grain Production” sector and its members by all means, the NAZ announced late this evening.
Today’s decision of the Commission, which was reached without a supported motive, is a national betrayal and a doom for native agriculture, therefore the producers are adamant that they will protest against the attempt to collapse the sector, which is the biggest supporter of social peace.
“We will witness a massive collapse that will cause regional instability of local economies. Let’s not forget that the collapse in agriculture is not just the closing of one company, it is a domino that will lead to upheavals in a large part of suppliers, partners and long-term collaborators”, said the chairman of NAZ, Iliya Prodanov.
NAZ calls on the members of the National Assembly to vote for the continuation after 15.09.2023 of the ban on the import of agricultural goods from Ukraine into the Republic of Bulgaria, for the preservation of social peace and for the long-term guarantee of food security in the country.
The association represents the interest of farmers from all over the country and together with them will go to the streets to protect their interests, the common interests of the state. The tension in the sector, which has been simmering for months, will flood the squares.
Tomorrow, 13.09.2023, NAZ will participate in a press conference of BAC, as its member, at 1:00 p.m. in BTA.
