Solar wind is responsible for most of the moisture on the Moon’s surface. Scientists say it’s the hydrogen that makes up water.

Beijing:

China launched the ‘Sango-5’ spacecraft last November to explore the moon. The spacecraft landed on the Moon in the mid-high latitude region.

The instrument in the spacecraft’s lander filmed the spectroscopic reflection on the rock at the lunar surface.

The spacecraft then returned to Earth with rock samples weighing 1,731 grams. The rock sample was studied by scientists from China.

During that study, it was discovered that the moon’s surface rock formations contain 120 grams of water per ton. Solar wind is responsible for most of the moisture on the Moon’s surface. Scientists say it’s the hydrogen that makes up water.

It is noteworthy that for the first time water has been discovered on the moon.
