The renewable energy company Afcon Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of Afcon Holdings, was selected by the joint judging committee of the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Agriculture to establish two agro-volatile projects, with a capacity of 5.5 MW. The financial scope of the project is estimated at NIS 24 million.

The activity will be in agricultural moshavim in the Bedouin diaspora in the south of the country. In addition, an agro-solar farm will be established in the north of the country.

The Agro-Voltai project – integrating solar panels in agricultural fields – is a developing and innovative field all over the world. One of the main challenges in the field is to create the optimal conditions for a common living environment of the plant and the solar facility. Afcon Renewable Energies has conducted in-depth and innovative research work to select the most suitable crop varieties and technology for integration into projects.

Israel Reif, Chairman of Afcon, stated: “The field of renewable energies is a strategic growth engine of the group and therefore we are expanding our activities in the field both in Israel and around the world. These projects that combine unique technology are necessary for the continued growth of the solar field in Israel while preserving agriculture in the country. “
