The 15th Hebrew Language Conference in Rishon Lezion kicks off and will take place between the dates: February 8-10, 2022, Heichal Hatarbut, Rishon Lezion
Rishon Lezion, the city that has engraved on its banner the education and the Hebrew language, continues the tradition and will hold for the 15th year the only language conference of its kind in the country that deals with the Hebrew language in all its various aspects!
Rishon Lezion defines the language conference as one of the cornerstones and beautiful and important traditions in the city.
Every year the conference is renewed and appeals to additional and new audiences, among other things it receives fruitful cooperation from the variety of educational staff and students of the city who are an integral part of the conference. This year the conference will include a variety of sessions and cultural events that will be marked by “its Hebrew is its” attitude of the language to gender.
The Hebrew language, unlike other languages, “betrays” gender (you, you, they, they). It obliges speakers to address a person’s gender.
Over the years, dozens of academics, lecturers, intellectuals, scholars, writers, poets, composers, actors and singers, will take part in unique sessions and original productions for the language conference, which will express the language’s attitude to gender and directly the social attitude. Among them is gender in language from different angles: proud language, slang language, biblical language, “own language” evening with Rita and Tzruya Lahav and more.
The main shows:
- Rita and Tzruya Lahav in a special session “her own language”, a meeting between an artist and a writer
- “Time Now” – Ivri Lider arrives at the Hebrew language conference with his successful show and weaves songs that mix genders in a way that is so typical of him.
- The creator, Noam Horev, on the creative process for singers and writing from a woman’s throat and vice versa and on fascinating stories behind the songs he wrote
- The 15th Logic: The Annual Conference of Logic Crossword Enthusiasts
- The slang dictionary of Dan Ben Amotz and Netiva Ben Yehuda celebrates fifty with the participation of: Yair Nitzani, the actress Bat Chen Sabag and David Gurevitch
- “Proud Language” – Shir Reuven, Leon Schneiderovsky, Dr. Rubik Rosenthal and Dotan Brom will discuss the revolutionary change brought about by the proud community in the unique language and language coins it has instilled in our culture. Edited and moderated by journalist Orit Marlin Rosenzweig
- The author Yochi Brands, winner of the Israel Bible Prize, Yair Zakovich, and the conductor, David Zeba, together with Dr. Orit Avnery, following the silence, poetry and speech of biblical women.
On 8.2 at 20:30 the conference will open with “2 Voices”, a source production.
Shiri Maimon, Banya Barbie, Shimon Buskila, Alon Olarchik, Zehava Ben, Nurit Galron will take you on a musical journey during which they will present the change and development that beloved Israeli duets have undergone in a female and male voice in Israeli music over the years.

This evening there will be a ceremony to award the Rishon Lezion Mayor’s Award in the name of Meir Ariel for creativity in the Hebrew language and its application to various levels of the population.
The prize, for a total of NIS 36,000, is intended to express appreciation for a prominent artistic or gothic work in the Hebrew language that has left its mark or made the Hebrew language and its treasures accessible to large and diverse audiences. The award will be presented at the conference by the Mayor, Mr. Raz Kinstlich.

Ivri Lider with a unique performance for a conference in which he will combine alongside the performance of his familiar and beloved hits a discourse on gender bias and the changes that apply to the song, the writer and especially the listener.
As part of the Moshav Teachers and Instructors Conference, the annual meeting of teachers and instructors will be held this year under the banner “Language Out of the Box”
This year, too, the conference will be collaborating with the director of education. For this purpose, Dr. Rubik Rosenthal, the conference’s academic advisor, constructed lesson plans that deal with the language.
This year, on the occasion of the 140th year of Rishon Lezion, the schools will focus on “Rishon Lezion Legends.” The children will collect numbers, archives in general and family archives in particular and especially from conversations and memories of parents and grandparents fascinating, funny or dramatic stories, which took place in the city throughout its 140 years.
The selected stories will be combined into a book that will be published at the celebrations in 140 towards the fall of 2022
