Kawasaki is already ready to market its first electric two-wheeled models. Akashi’s firm has confirmed the imminent arrival of the long-awaited fully electric Ninja and Z e-1 to our countrya landing that will occur throughout the months of October and November to offer an emissions-free alternative to all those looking for a sports or naked motorcycle powered by batteries.

Both the Ninja e-1 and the Z e-1 have been developed to be driven with the B car license, as long as we are at least three years old. Both are mounted on the same set of steel tube chassis and engine, in this case a silent and efficient brushless motor with 5 kW (6.8 hp) nominal powerwith a maximum peak of up to 9 kW (12.2 hp) that the rider can activate through the ‘e-boost’ button located on the right handlebar under the throttle grip.

According to Kawasaki, the top speed of both models is limited to a maximum of 99 km/h, and the autonomy measured in the WMTC cycle is 72 kilometers. The Kawasaki Z e-1 and Ninja e-1 also come standard with a “Walk” mode that allows maneuvering at walking speed both forward and in reverse, which is especially useful for parking in tight spots or going uphill. back.

One of the main differences of the new Kawasaki EV compared to other electric motorcycles lies in its double removable battery connected in parallel, allowing its users to remove the battery to charge at home. Each battery – installed in the false fuel tank – has a capacity of 30 Ah (ampere hour), weighs 11.5 kilos and the charging time from 0 to 100% is 3.7 hours. Thanks to the regenerative system, the energy from deceleration returns to the battery, which contributes to prolonging autonomy.

Charging options include a charging station in which a battery can be placed or through a cable that can connect the external charging unit to the motorcycle through a socket under the seat. The lithium-ion batteries feature charge indicators and a symmetrical design for easy placement, plus a convenient lockable storage area above the batteries.

The weight of the Z e-1 is 135 kilos, a figure that rises to 140 kilos for the Ninja e-1 by having a complete fairing. Both use 17-inch wheels with tires in sizes 100/80-17 and 130/70-17, and the seat-to-ground height is 785 mm for both.

The instrumentation is made up of a 4.3-inch color TFT panel with smartphone connectivity which reports on the status of the motorcycle, the range, the availability of the boost function and the selected driving mode (Road or Eco). Driving aids are limited to a standard ABS system. The ECO and ROAD driving modes serve to limit the motorcycle’s performance:

ECO Mode 64 km/h
ECO Mode + e-boost 75 km/h
ROAD Mode 88 km/h
ROAD Mode + e-boost 99 km/h

Both the Ninja e-1 and the Z e-1 can only be chosen in a single color combination Bright Silver Metallic and Matte Lime Green Metallic. Its price in Spain is not yet official, but we do know that in other markets such as the United Kingdom They will cost 5,000 euros in the case of the Z e-1 and 5,470 euros for the Ninja e-1.
