Our answer
The ICRC has been carrying out field activities in Libya since 2011. Today, together with its partners in the Libyan Red Crescent, it is mobilizing vital equipment and supplies to assist survivors in the areas most affected by the flood. We also provide support to recover and bury the deceased with dignity.
We are distributing medicines, food, first aid items and household items to Libyan emergency response authorities to help thousands of families in need. Furthermore, in the coming days, and also in collaboration with the Libyan Red Crescent, we will send additional ICRC teams to the region to provide humanitarian assistance, with items such as kitchen utensils, mattresses and hygiene products for more than 5,000 people in Derna. .
Furthermore, our teams will carry out an assessment of the risks posed by unexploded ordnance and abandoned ammunition depots in the city to prevent more deaths and injuries.
