All about Elon Musk

A photo of the possible look of Tesla’s robotaxi began circulating on social media this week, just before the release of Elon Musk’s official biography. The drawing shows that the vehicle’s design is reminiscent of the Cybertruck – and does not have pedals or steering wheel. The company had announced plans to build the robotaxi in 2022, but did not give an official delivery date.

Autonomous Cybertruck robotaxi?

Musk’s biographer, Walter Isaacson, released the Tesla CEO’s biography last Tuesday (12), giving more details about the image.

The published design appears to be a concept for the company’s robotaxi, with a design inspired by the Cybertruck, including the stainless steel housing for which the pickup became popular.

As reported by Tech Crunchanother image from the book, which cannot be obtained, shows Tesla chief designer Franz von Holzhausen next to an old robotaxi, with just two seats and space in the back for luggage.

What will Tesla’s robotaxi look like?

However, the image of the Cybertruck-like model does not have a date. In other words, it is not possible to know if this will actually be the design that Tesla will adopt in the robotaxi, which was announced in 2022, or if the idea was left aside; In the book, it appears in the section that tells the life of Elon Musk between the years 2014 and 2016;Although we cannot imagine what the car will look like, Musk confirmed to the website Axios that the robotaxi will not really have pedals or a steering wheel; The engineers even challenged the CEO (at the time, Tesla’s Full Self-Drivide – FSD did not yet exist), but he took the risk in the name of technology and autonomy. Caveats to Tesla’s robotaxi

However, United States legislation still does not allow the mass production of a 100% autonomous car. Tesla’s hope is that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will announce new regulations on this in September.

The automaker’s luck is that it still doesn’t have a date to launch the robotaxi. Still in 2022, Musk even commented that the model would be on the market (without steering wheels or pedals, as he insisted) by 2024.

Until then, Tesla will have to rely on changing regulations, announce the model to the market (which, with two seats, may not be the most eye-catching), start production and develop the service for using the robotaxi.
