The eternal debate: potato omelette with or without onion? The Sociological Research Center had to come to clarify how Spaniards prefer tortillas, and the choice is clear: with onion and rare.

In a survey carried out by the CIS, which is found in the report on Tourism and Gastronomy, 70% of the participants have been clear in their choice, the preferred tortilla is the one with onion. Furthermore, 53.9% have indicated that they prefer it rare.

The dish has won silver in the survey on the most representative dishes of Spanish gastronomy. This delicacy has lost gold to, how could it be otherwise, paella, which was chosen by 48% of those surveyed. The bronze, in this case, has gone to the Iberian ham.

Regarding preferences by sex, women between 35 and 44 years old are the main lovers of this dish, compared to 32.8% of men. The military and police forces, in terms of the survey by profession, have placed potato omelette in first place, followed by students.

Furthermore, those surveyed have high esteem for their native cuisine. 81.1% of those surveyed answered that Spanish gastronomy is the best in the world, followed by Italian and French.
