On September 26 and 27 it will premiere in the Canal Theaters, Here is a romantic acthand in hand with Richard Mascherin. Piece that is part of the program programming Baila Channel that is being developed these days in this Madrid theater.

Canarian creator focused on contemporary performing arts and audiovisuals. He graduated in Madrid in Contemporary Dance (Royal Professional Conservatory of Dance Mariemma). Degree in General Film Direction (Metrópolis School of Film and Theater) and Degree in Film and TV Stunt (Ángel Plana Stunt School of Madrid) officially accredited by the International Stunts Academy of Moscow (ISA). He has had stage work with companies such as Sharon Fridman in the plays Free Fall, How Long…? and AllWays (2015-2019) or La Veronal in Pasionaria (2019-2022), among others. In some ways, the fall has been present in both his career as a performer and as a creator since 2015.

Currently he directs his project that branches into different forms and scenic proposals in which the inevitability of the fall is the fundamental concept of his research and creation. The project investigates and links different media: dance, performance, video and photography.

Since then he has created different scenic proposals such as CAER, CAER, CAER, Vacío Espiritual or CAE CONMIGO, and audiovisuals such as Here is a body that falls or CAE, for dance festivals, art spaces and film festivals. With the support of entities such as Canal Choreographic Center – Teatros del Canal, Graner Center de Creació, Konvent Zero, L’Estruch Fàbrica de Creació, Spanish Embassy in Rome, Fiver Dance Film Festival, Masdanza, Tenerife Espacio de las Artes – TEA, Cabildo de Tenerife, PiedeBase, Festival Danseu, Mapas Fest, Choreographic Center of La Gomera and Derida Dance, Center (Bulgaria), among others.

From this presentation by Richard Mascherin we can extract, among other things, that we are dealing with a professional who has been outlining his stage language and the themes that will define his future creations for some time. Precisely, the above is what makes it more interesting for me to keep track of him; Even more so, if possible, I was dazzled after having seen Spiritual Void within the framework of last year’s edition of the Corpo Romo Festival. What I want to get at is that professionals like Richard Mascherin are the ones who guide us on how the new trends and names that will star in the Spanish contemporary scene will take hold, and that is why I consider it very important to know them and support them throughout their corresponding trajectories. Therefore, I give way to the synopsis of Here is a romantic act:

What ends and what begins with an accident? What hurts more, a blow or a kiss on the lips? Is hating another way of loving? Do you want me to give myself to you? Would you love me if I didn’t need you? Can I fall with you? What is a romantic act?

Here the physical and emotional fall is used to create a map of bodies thrown into the void.

The piece is a reaction to the current bombardment of stimuli and the unstoppable accumulation of objects that comfort us, harm us and nullify us.

Three victims try to move consciously in the midst of this violent spiral, making accidents and provocations, attachments and detachments a rite of passage towards transcendence, a ceremony where the toxic is a tool for resurrection.

Here delivery has two faces. On the one hand, it endangers; on the other, it enhances, strengthens, vivifies. After all, you can’t get up off the ground before you’ve fallen on it.

Here is the declaration of something indomitable. Here is a heroic resistance. Here is a romantic act.
