A woman lost her life last Saturday following a surgical procedure at the Diogoma clinic in Labé, explains her family.
She had a fibroid for which she played billiards before suffering from stomach pain for a few days.
Mamadou Bobo Sow, one of the victim’s brothers, testified in these terms:
“According to the doctor, it was a fibroid myself, I saw the lump that they extracted, she remained in bed for a few days then came home…”
Except that since then, the patient’s condition has deteriorated severely and she even had difficulty passing stools, so the family returned to the clinic and despite the little care administered, she was in too bad shape and died.
For Mamadou Bobo Sow, his sister is the victim of a medical error but when filing a complaint, he is waiting to see the position of the family, particularly that of his father, before making a decision without any haste.
Ibrahim Bah, the doctor who officiated at the intervention, had promised to give his version of the facts but changed his mind, remaining closed to calls from our editorial staff.
However, he believes that he did his work professionally without having failed to comply with any rule of ethics or professional conduct.
As a reminder, last June the clinic had also cited another medical error but which turned out to be the responsibility of DPS agents, something which had motivated a suspension of DPS Sékou Sylla.
The DPS maintains that he did not know that the clinic performed surgical procedures and that he is waiting for the manager to clarify things.
But from the outset, he urges everyone to respect his roadmap by prioritizing the lives of patients over money and he promises in the event of proven medical error to fall back on the instructions of his hierarchy.
From official sources we know that the clinic is suspended. We will come back to this.
