Viktor Orban the prime minister said on Thursday at the Demographic Summit that “we will extend the personal income tax exemption to mothers with three children, I’m waiting for the moment when the finance minister calms down.”

The expert speaking to RTL Hírado could affect up to hundreds of thousands of mothers, who could save an average of HUF 85,000 per month, but this would mean a loss of HUF 200 billion for the budget. Levente Tóth however, he does not believe that this will be introduced in the near future. The Bank 360 expert said:

we have an agreed budget for 2024 that doesn’t include it, and on the other hand, we have a budget for 23 that is in terrible shape, so if the prime minister is waiting for the finance minister to slack off, it doesn’t look like now is the time.

RTL contacted the Ministry of Finance, but they did not receive an answer as to when the tax exemption for mothers with three children will be introduced.
