Man Arrested for Impersonating Federal Enforcement and Carrying Loaded Weapon at Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Campaign Event in Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA – A man has been taken into custody after allegedly entering a campaign event for Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in Los Angeles with a loaded weapon and impersonating federal enforcement. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon and prompted a swift response from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the FBI.

According to a statement released by the LAPD on Saturday, law enforcement was called to the campaign event after receiving reports of a man who “had a loaded gun in a shoulder holster and a badge stating he was a U.S. Marshall.” The FBI was also present at the scene to assist with the investigation.

The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Adrian Paul Aispuro. He has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, according to the LAPD. Aispuro is currently being held in custody with a bail set at $35,000. It is unclear if he has retained legal representation.

In a Facebook post, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. acknowledged the incident and praised his private security detail for apprehending the suspect. Kennedy also expressed his hope that President Biden would grant him Secret Service protection, remarking on the ongoing security concerns faced by presidential candidates.

The decision to grant Secret Service protection to a presidential candidate is made by the secretary of Homeland Security in consultation with congressional leadership, according to the Secret Service. Generally, such protection is provided within one year of Election Day unless there are “extraordinary” circumstances based on threat assessment and other factors.

The incident at Kennedy’s campaign event serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by political figures and their need for adequate security. The Kennedy family has a tragic history with political violence, as Kennedy’s father was assassinated in Los Angeles in 1968 during the California Democratic presidential primary.

The LAPD continues to investigate the incident, and additional charges may be filed against Aispuro if warranted. Meanwhile, Kennedy and his campaign team remain focused on their message and ensuring the safety of their supporters and staff.
