The counties of Girona go register 3,617 sales ofhousing during the second quarter of the year, a figure that represents an anecdotal year-on-year decline of only 0.1%and which means 14.9% of the total operations registered in Catalonia.
In Catalonia, 24,210 sales were registered, 7% less than a year ago. If compared with the first three months of the year, the decline was 4.8%. The demarcation of Barcelona concentrated 64.6% of the total sales of housing in Catalonia during the last quarter, up to 15,628, down 9.5% annually. The counties of Tarragona added 3,698 sales (15.3% of the total). Behind Girona is only Lleida, with 5.2% of the total and 1,267 operations (+0.6%).
As for prices per square meter, they rose slightly in the second quarter, with 0.5% more compared to the previous quarter. Specifically, it stood at 2,424 euros per square meter, 3.1% more annually compared to the 4.5% increase in the previous quarter. In absolute terms, the price is at its highest level since the second quarter of 2011.
For demarcations, the price per square meter is approaching the highs of recent years. In Barcelona, the price per square meter was 2,771 euros per square meter, with a quarterly increase of 0.8% and a year-on-year growth of 3%. In the demarcation of Girona stood at 2,191 euros per square meterwith a quarterly increase of 0.3% and 3.2% year-on-year.
On the other hand, according to the Association of Real Estate Agents of Catalonia and the Official College of Real Estate Agents (COAPI) of Barcelona, the relative weight of foreign buyers is at a maximum, with 15.4 % and exceeding 3,700 purchases. The percentage doubles in the case of the regions of Girona, while in Tarragona it stands at 16%, in Barcelona at 11.7% and in Lleida at 9.7%.
