JAKARTA – Prospective presidential candidate supported by the Perindo Party Ganjar Pranowo emphasized that eradicating corruption will be a priority for the future government if he is elected president in the 2024 presidential election. Because rampant corruption is hampering Indonesia’s dream of becoming a developed country.

Ganjar said this at the Indonesian Higher Education Alumni Forum entitled “Ganjar Answers the Challenges of Indonesia’s Future” at The Ballroom XXI Djakarta Theater, Central Jakarta, Sunday (17/9/2023).

“Corruption is still our homework (homework, ed.) and enters all subsectors. It’s not easy, I spent 10 years in Central Java carrying the tagline Mboten Corruption, Mboten Ngapusi and it was quite successful,” he said at the location.

Ganjar said that there are several things that need to be improved to achieve the eradication of corruption. Starting from education, prevention, to taking action.

All schools under the auspices of the Central Java Provincial Government, continued Ganjar, are taught the anti-corruption curriculum. Bureaucratic reform was overhauled in such a way as to create a clean and serving government.

“If we want to be serious, then corruption is a disease that we must eradicate together. I am sure we can, by organizing regulations, improving institutions and placing the right actors to lead it,” he stressed.

“Indonesia can become a developed country if its state budget is high. In 2024, our state budget will be around IDR 3,200 trillion. Can we increase our APBN to IDR 6,400 trillion in 2029? I am confident and optimistic that we can,” he continued.

Apart from eradicating corruption, continued Ganjar, optimizing the potential of Indonesia’s natural resources and human resources could be increased to increase the budget. One sector that has not been optimized is the digital economy.

“The potential for the world’s digital economy in 2030 is predicted to reach 360 billion dollars. That is a very large amount. And Indonesia must be able to make this sector a source of income to increase the state budget,” he explained.

Ganjar admitted that he had met many creative industry players. From there, he saw how young Indonesians could make this sector the country’s mainstay.

“Three young people who I always give examples are Nikki, Rich Brian, and Putri Ariani. What great creative young people they are. And in Indonesia, there are still many other talented young people who can make our digital economy successful,” he explained.
