Group Leader of Grand Fondo New York (GFNY) Indonesia, Muhammad Maful, gave an explanation regarding the 2024 GFNY Bali international cycling event being cancelled. He said 2024 is a political year, so GFNY Bali will be shifted to March 2025.
GFNY Bali has entered its fifth year, since it was first held in 2018 until 2023. Meanwhile, in 2021 GFNY Bali will not be held, because the Covid-19 pandemic means all outdoor activities have to be cancelled.
Meanwhile, after GFNY Bali 2023, Muhammad Maful said that the annual international cycling event on the Island of the Gods would be held again in March 2025. He explained that in order to respect the political year, GFNY 2024 was shifted.
“We know that 2024 is a political year. We respect the democratic party in the country,” said Muhammad Maful at Sayan Market, Ubud, Sunday (17/9/2023).
“We are actually not canceling GFNY Bali 2024 but shifting the time for it to be held. Our initial plan was to do it in September 2024, we will move it to March 2025. If we count from now it’s not that far, less than 2 years. So around 15 months,” he explained.
Furthermore, Muhammad Maful hopes that GFNY 2025 can be held as planned. Apart from that, he said he would carry out an evaluation, so that GFNY Indonesia and GFNY Bali could be better in the future.
“We will evaluate and improve the organization of this event by presenting new challenges. Hopefully in the future there will be GFNY Indonesia and GFNY Bali,” he said.
For information, GFNY has two annual agendas, namely GFNY Indonesia which is held throughout the country. Then, GFNY Bali which only takes place on the Island of the Gods.
However, GFNY Indonesia which was scheduled to take place in Mandalika, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara had to be canceled. So, GFNY Bali can be held in 2023.
