Dubai: ICC Player of the Month announced in December. New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel, who took 14 wickets, including 10 wickets in an innings, in the Mumbai Test against India (IND vs NZ) in December, was named Man of the Match for December.
Ajaz Patel’s victory over Indian opener Mayank Agarwal and Australian pacer Mitchell Starc. JP Duminy, a member of the ICC Voting Academy, said Ajaz’s performance was phenomenal, taking 10 wickets in an innings. Duminy said the achievement should be celebrated.
Ajax took 10 wickets in 10 innings in the second Test of the series against India in Mumbai. Ajaz also became the first bowler to achieve this feat after Jim Laker and Anil Kumble.
Ajax, who took 14 wickets in the only Test he played in December, has the best bowling performance of a bowler in 2021 against India in Mumbai. However, New Zealand’s omission of Ajaz from the squad for the Test series against Bangladesh came as a surprise to fans.
