The chairman of Ra’am, MK Mansour Abbas, responds to the continued planting of the JNF in the Yatir Forest area, after a break of several weeks.

Today, JNF members returned to planting trees in the area in the town of Moleda, which according to the Bedouin is privately owned by the Alatrash tribe family. During the day, members of the Knesset of Ra’am and the joint list also arrived.

The heart of the debate is about the plantings carried out by the JNF, as a contractor of the state, which carries out the plantings on behalf of the Israel Land Authority (RMI).

In recent years, legal proceedings have been conducted on behalf of the Alatrash tribe before the state authorities. Last year, Minister Amir Peretz, who served in the Netanyahu-Gantz government, also decided to freeze planting in the Negev region, and now there is a renewed attempt to carry out the work.

The RAAM faction opposes the move and even threatens to take political measures such as disobeying coalition discipline, as long as the works continue.
