(wS/dia) Burbach Sep 18, 2023 | The employees and guests of the Dresselndorf day care are once again supporting the “Christmas in a Shoebox” campaign this year. In order to be able to pack as many packages as possible, guests and employees are happy to receive donations of items and cardboard, which they can then design and pack together for Christmas as part of a week of action. Donations can be dropped off at the Dresselndorf day care center, Westerwaldstrasse 86 in Burbach, until October 31, 2023.
Last year, the seniors at the Dresselndorf day care packed 50 packages for the campaign. “We support the campaign together with our guests because we want to actively live the Christian commandment of charity – especially during the Christmas season,” explains Linda Rein, head of the Dresselndorf day care.

Worldwide gift campaign for children in need
The “Christmas in a Shoebox” campaign is a worldwide gift campaign. Under the motto “Love can be wrapped up,” children in need not only experience Christmas joy through a shoebox, but are also touched with God’s love. The campaign is known internationally as “Operation Christmas Child”. Since 1993, more than 186 million children in more than 150 countries have been reached worldwide.
In addition to the German-speaking countries, shoeboxes are also being packed for children in need in the United States, Australia and New Zealand, Canada, Great Britain, Spain and Finland.
The Dresselndorf day care is operated by Diakonie Bethanien in cooperation with the Christian senior citizens’ homes in Lützeln.
