José Ignacio Morales Plaza has resigned as CEO of Vía Célere with effect from this Monday, September 18, which means that he will leave his executive positions, as well as the board of directors.
His responsibilities at the promoter will be assumed, provisionally, by the company’s board of directors until the appointment of a new CEO, as reported by the company in a statement.
The company, which has not explained the reasons for its resignation, has nevertheless expressed its gratitude for the work carried out by the manager over the last five years, in which it defends that Vía Célere has established itself “as one of the leading residential developers in Spain.” .
In this period, the company has delivered more than 7,000 homes and in 2023 it expects to deliver more than 2,200 units, a record number for the company, whose largest shareholder is the American investment fund Värde. Morales joined the company in 2018 as CFO, from the engineering firm Sener, where he held the positions of general corporate financial director and general director of Strategy, Corporate Development & Affiliates. Previously, he had held different positions of responsibility in companies such as PwC, F.Hoffman-La Roche or BBVA.
Vía Célere was one of the developments that survived the burst of the real estate bubble at the hands of Juan Antonio Gómez Pintado, who managed it until its sale to Värde in 2017.
José Ignacio Morales Plaza has a PhD in Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid, an MBA from IESE Business School and a Certificate in Strategy & Scenario Planning from the University of Oxford.
