Overinvoicing: Companies awarded public contracts in turmoil

DIG/ After the general directors of public administrations and parapublic companies, it is the turn of the bosses of the private sector who have contracted public contracts with the State to be under pressure.

Indeed, the Minister Delegate to the Presidency of the Transition, Spokesperson for the Transition Committee for the Restoration of Institutions (CTRI) announced, on Wednesday September 13, 2023, the reactivation of the task force on internal and external debt.

Suspended for unknown reasons, the continuation of this vast audit should allow the verification of all public contracts awarded to several companies.

And thus uncover possible over-invoicing and other embezzlement committed by third parties in collaboration with central administration executives.

“The President of the Transition, Head of State, General Brice-Clotaire Oligui Nguéma invites all companies awarded public contracts and all administrative entities concerned to contact the commission upon receipt of their summons”, indicated Lieutenant Colonel Ulrich Manfoumbi Manfoumbi

Established by Order No. 006/PR dated June 20, 2020, the Taskforce on the settlement of the domestic debt is made up of a pool of technicians: Chartered accountants; technicians from the General Directorate of Debt; Treasury Department; Magistrates from the Libreville public prosecutor’s office and state judicial agents.

As of November 2021, the amount of false debts discovered by the Domestic Debt Task Force was to 750 billion francs out of 1100 billion francs of debt audited to date.
