The companies brought together leaders from the agricultural and technology sectors to discuss how technology is already revolutionizing and will transform the routine of those who sell grains in Brazil.

Grão Direto – leader in the digital marketing of grains in Latin America in collaboration with Microsoft and with the support of Teltec – a company that provides solutions, services and technology consultancy, held an innovative event last Tuesday (12/09) . Under the theme “Sowing Grains for Harvest in the Digital Future”, the conference brought together leaders from the agro and technological sector to discuss how technology is currently applied in the journey of selling and purchasing grains and how it is and will continue to transform the Brazilian agribusiness scenario .

The event featured a series of lectures and debates that explored the most recent innovative trends and their applications in the agricultural chain. Issues such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, data analytics, as well as vital agricultural sector topics such as digital barter and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) were highlighted. Furthermore, the topic of innovation and adoption of technologies in large, already consolidated companies in the sector was addressed.

Several speakers from global companies, who are already participating in the digital transformation of agriculture, shared their experiences, results and views on the market.
More than 60 representatives from leading agribusiness and technology companies were present at the event, participating in a discussion about the prospects that the digital future promises for the sector. Fred Marques, Co-founder and CTO of Grão Direto, shared his vision during the event: “We are at the turning point of digital transformation. Inside the gate, agribusiness has always been very technological: we have seen very strong increases in productivity, expansion of area with the use of biotechnology, genetics and other innovations. And, in recent years, we have seen an exponential growth in digitalization also outside the gate, with major players involved and engaged, demonstrating that this is in fact the moment of the digital revolution in agriculture.”

Ronan Damasco, National Director of Technology at Microsoft, also highlighted the importance of interaction between agribusiness and the technology sector in Brazil, stating that: “Technology has become indispensable. The use of technology in agriculture has been expanding and intensifying in recent years. From inside the gate, with precision agriculture, and outside (the gate) in financial operations, with the use of technologies such as blockchain for tokenization and with the advances that artificial intelligence is bringing.”

With digitalization, producers now have immediate access to information about prices and buyers across the country, opening up new perspectives and business opportunities. “One of the main advantages we see, in addition to information, is that in the past, producers had very restricted access, knew few prices and few buyers. And, when we talk about the grain market, we are not talking about a price that is the same throughout Brazil. Each city is charging a price for soybeans and corn and this was information that did not exist at our fingertips. Today, when a producer accesses the app, he already has the information, in addition to finding buyers who are on his radar and not just in his contact list.” – adds Marques.

The event ended, looking to the future, presenting what the routine could be like, with the innovative technologies present, for a producer and a grain buyer in 3 years. Furthermore, the next event that will be held by the startup was announced, in November this year, with the theme: Unveiling the 2024 Harvest.
