Earthquake Strong occurred tonight (Monday to Tuesday) in the area Cyprus And was well felt in large parts of the State of Israel.
The quake was felt around 3:00 a.m. in many cities, including: Beer Sheva, Jerusalem, Petah Tikva, Rehovot and more. According to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Institute (EMSC), the magnitude of the quake was 6.5 and at a depth of 51 kilometers.
The Israel Police said: “A magnitude 6.4 earthquake occurred recently in the Cyprus area. The quake was felt in various areas around the country. Dozens of calls were recorded at 100 hotspots. There is no tsunami alert.”
The last earthquake felt in Israel was about two weeks ago, as a result of an earthquake that occurred on the island of Crete in Greece, with a magnitude of 5.6.
According to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Institute, the exact focus was 56 km south of the Greek island capital Heraklion and it occurred at 7:08, at a depth of 50 km. In Israel, they felt the quake a few minutes later.
