María del Rosario Orozco Caballero, widow of the former governor of Puebla, Miguel Barbosarevealed that she will seek Morena’s candidacy to occupy in 2024 the position that her husband held until before his death.

“I have carefully reviewed the Morena Call for the internal process, I comply with each of the requirements for the Coordination of Committees for the Defense of Transformation in Puebla,” he said through the social network X (formerly Twitter).

“I am ready to continue contributing, and I have decided to participate!” she added.

María del Rosario Orozco reiterated that the process must be carried out “with order and transparency.” Likewise, she opted for the state’s next leader to be a woman.

“Puebla is experiencing moments of change and it is time for women to be protagonists of this story,” she noted.

Orozco is currently Honorary President of the Board of Trustees of the System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family of the state of Puebla (SEDIF), since August 1, 2019.

He studied a Bachelor’s Degree in Law at the Popular Autonomous University of the State of Puebla and has a Master’s Degree in University Teaching from the Ibero-American University of Puebla.

Early this Tuesday, Morena launched the calls for those who aspire to lead the candidacies for the 9 state governments that will be at stake in the elections on Sunday, June 2, 2024.

The national leader of the party, Mario Delgado, announced the requirements for those who wish to run to be coordinators of the State Transformation Defense Committees, the name of the position that the Morenista candidates will hold.

Applicants will not be able to hold public positions in state or federal governments, nor be legislators or officials in the administration of justice, unless they definitively separate from their position at least 180 days before June 2, 2024.

They must also not have held command in military or police institutions, unless they had left office before September 10. This same rule applies to those who held Circuit magistrates, the position of District Judge or in local judicial powers.

Winners will be decided through a survey. Registration of participants will take place between September 25 and 26. Approved applications will be published no later than October 30.

Miguel Barbosa died on December 13, 2022, while still serving as governor of Puebla. Given this, the Morenoist Sergio Salomón Céspedes Peregrina replaced him as president.
