Stockholm Police Department Seeking Employees for EU Coordination Role

Stockholm, September 20, 2023 – The National Operations Department (Noa) of the Stockholm Police Department is currently strengthening its group for EU coordination and is seeking additional employees to help develop and coordinate the police’s international work within the EU. The department, responsible for leading and coordinating national and international police activities, aims to provide support to operations throughout the country with knowledge and resources.

The international unit is responsible for various collaborations within the UN, Europol, Interpol, the Baltic Sea area, and Nordic countries. It also coordinates the Police Authority’s EU work and oversees the force abroad and international development projects. Additionally, the unit serves as the national point of contact for coordinating operational international cases around the clock, in collaboration with the operational unit.

The group for EU coordination, housed within the international unit, is responsible for coordinating the Police Authority’s international work at a strategic level. This includes coordinating work in the EU, Nordic countries, and the Baltic Sea area, as well as supporting the authority’s management in its international commitments and work with international agreements.

As an administrator in the group for EU coordination, successful candidates will be responsible for coordinating and developing the agency’s international work, ensuring a law enforcement perspective in the EU and other international organizations. The role involves collaborating with the authority’s departments and regions and providing support to the Government Office in international contexts. The position requires both national and international contacts and may involve business trips abroad.

Applicants must have a very good knowledge of the EU’s structure and work, including EU legislation. They should also have work experience in a strategic role and preferably within the Government Office, Police Authority, or other authorities. Additional qualifications include knowledge of Europe or another relevant orientation, excellent verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and English.

Advantageous qualities include work experience in major change projects, an interest in governance and coordination issues, and international work experience, such as with one of the EU institutions. To succeed in the role, candidates must be self-motivated, structured, and possess strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities. The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to various contexts and situations is essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and enthuse colleagues are also paramount.
