Launch Ceremony of ‘Kalaignar 100 — Vikadan and Artist’ by Vikatan Group in Chennai, Featuring Chief Minister Stalin and Kamal

Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, witnessed a grand launch ceremony for the ‘Kalaignar 100 – Vikadan and Artist’ event organized by ‘Vikatan’ Group. Editor Mr. Murugan took the lead in organizing the event that took place at the Kalaiwanar Arena on date. The ceremony saw the presence of eminent personalities, including Chief Minister Stalin and Makkal Neeti Maiyam party leader Kamal, who issued the letter for the event.

The launch ceremony witnessed speeches from I. Krishnamurthy, co-editor of ‘Dinamalar’ daily, and N. Ram, director of ‘The Hindu’ Group, both of whom commended the initiative.

During the event, Chief Minister Stalin released the Nual and addressed the audience. He acknowledged the mistakes made in procuring yarns earlier and assured that efforts are being made to rectify them. The Chief Minister also shared plans to implement a transparent online selection process for threads, along with the formation of a panel of experts for the same. Additionally, he announced the purchase of 3.50 lakh books costing Rs 50 crore for the Artist Century Library, which were selected by 20 experts and recommended by 190 members.

Chief Minister Stalin emphasized the importance of supporting and criticizing government programs in a balanced manner, highlighting the value of neutral journalism. He urged journalists to fulfill their duty in supporting what is right and pointing out criticism when necessary. He stressed the need for the Tamil Nadu media to act in the best interests of the country, its people, and society, particularly when democracy, secularism, brotherhood, and social justice are facing challenges.

P. Srinivasan, Managing Director of ‘Vikatan’ Group, welcomed the attendees and expressed gratitude for the long-standing relationship between the group and former Chief Minister Karunanidhi. He praised the late leader for his openness to Vikadan and his contributions to literature. Srinivasan requested the Chief Minister to create a selection committee for libraries in Tamil Nadu to purchase good books and newspapers from small publishers.

N. Ram, Director of Hindu Group, reminisced about his interactions with Karunanidhi, highlighting the late leader’s respect for journalists. He contrasted this with some current politicians who he believes avoid difficult questions and behave poorly. Ram acknowledged Karunanidhi’s tireless work and credited his vision and plans for Tamil Nadu’s growth.

R. Krishnamurthy, co-editor of ‘Dinamalar’ newspaper, praised Chief Minister Stalin’s ‘Innovation and Innovation Policy’ as a catalyst for growth in Tamil Nadu. He commended the Chief Minister’s innovative approach and highlighted his significant contributions to the state.

Kamal, President of the People’s Justice Center, spoke highly of Stalin as a leader fighting to protect democracy, social justice, and federalism. He compared Karunanidhi’s leadership to the righteousness of the Ashoka Chakra, emphasizing his sacrifices, achievements, and contributions to Tamil Nadu. Kamal also acknowledged the close bond he shared with Karunanidhi over the years.

The launch ceremony of ‘Kalaignar 100 – Vikadan and Artist’ was a befitting tribute to the legacy of Karunanidhi and an opportunity to recognize his contributions to Tamil Nadu’s politics, literature, and culture. The event witnessed the coming together of influential individuals who highlighted the importance of supporting government initiatives and protecting democracy through responsible journalism.
